Out to Sea (DVD)

Out to Sea is a 1997 romantic comedy set on a cruise ship, centered on two older men posing as dance hosts to meet wealthy single women. Carefree gambler Charlie cons his widowed brother in law Herb into an all expenses paid cruise, only revealing after departure that they must work as dance hosts to the passengers. As they stumble through their duties under a tyrannical cruise director, Charlie pursues rich divorcee Liz while Herb unexpectedly falls for widow Vivian, forcing both men to confront their selfish motives and desire for genuine companionship. The film mixes broad humor with light romance and showcases the late career chemistry of stars Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, joined by Dyan Cannon in a key supporting role.
