Some Kind of Monster is een beperkte EP-uitgave van de Amerikaanse heavy metal band Metallica, uitgebracht in 2004. Deze release valt binnen het thrash metal en heavy metal genre en vormde een bijzondere toevoeging aan de band's discografie tijdens een turbulente periode in hun carrière. De EP bevat acht tracks, waaronder twee versies van het titelnummer - een albumversie en een kortere remix, beide geproduceerd door Bob Rock. De overige zes nummers zijn live-opnames uit Parijs, waarbij de band op één dag drie verschillende concerten gaf in verschillende venues. Deze live-tracks tonen de energie en intensiteit waarmee Metallica hun klassieke materiaal uit hun eerste drie albums ten gehore bracht. De release was nauw verbonden met de gelijknamige documentaire die de band volgde tijdens de opnames van hun St. Anger album. De EP werd geleverd met speciale bonusmateriaal, waaronder filmtrailers van de documentaire en een speciale editie T-shirt. De enhanced CD-versie bood extra multimedia-content voor fans. Some Kind of Monster vertegenwoordigt een controversieel moment in Metallica's geschiedenis, toen de band worstelde met interne spanningen, persoonlijke problemen en een veranderende muzieksector.
